Cameron's experience

Back in 2024. I joined the Suffolk Partnership Graduate scheme. I had never had any experience in an office or corporate role before and so didn't know what to expect.
Before joining the graduate scheme, I had studied at the University of East Anglia and San Francisco State University and graduated in 2023 and had worked at a crew member for an audio company and a bartender.
My first placement was with Suffolk County Council in the Human Resources department, sitting within the Early Careers Team. As part of this role, I supported the planning and delivery of our 2025 Internship scheme, managed our National Apprenticeship Week offerings and supported the development of new recruitment materials. Additionally, I supported two major digital change programmes, which allowed me to develop my data analytics skills.
In my second placement, I joined Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils, in the ICT, Programmes and Information Governance Team. In this role I was the Project Manager for our Copilot Trailblazer programme which rolled out our Al policy and training materials to the organisation. Additionally, I supported some of the early discovery work for local government reorganisation.
Over the past two years, I have massively developed my confidence and skills as well as achieved a distinction in my Level 4 Apprenticeship Project Management qualification, none of which would have been possible without the confidence and trust placed in me by my managers and colleagues to take on major projects, even at this early stage in my career.
I couldn't imagine a better way to start my career than on this programme. The support has been amazing and I would highly recommend anyone interested in entering a career in the public sector applies for the graduate scheme.
