West Suffolk Council Young People Charter
Next Generation Network
In recent years (since Covid) it has been difficult for staff to connect with each other and not more so for our younger and newer employees who have joined either during or since that time. Starting a new job, whether straight from school or college is daunting enough, besides trying to build and establish working relationships with others, learn a new role and understand what the council does.
Our network is specifically for those in the early stages of their careers with us, to provide them with an opportunity to connect with others within a safe space, sharing their ideas, goals and aspirations and supporting and learning from each other to achieve these.
This is a communication channel ‘a voice’, to support them, shape, grow and develop not only their careers but also to actively assist in the improvement of our service delivery to our residents and communities.
The network members created and designed the name and logo. A coordinator and deputy are appointed on an annual basis who are responsible for bringing together the suggestions and topics for the quarterly meetings. All eligible staff are invited to attend automatically, but there is no pressure to join, however if you come to work for us, we would encourage you to come along and finding out more for yourself.
The network is aligned to our West Suffolk Council Young People Charter.
