What is your role?
Technical Support Apprentice within Property Services.
When did you start here?
I started in March 2023 and it is a two year apprenticeship.
Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?
I chose to do an apprenticeship because you can learn workplace skills whilst earning money.
Did you come with GCSEs or A Levels?
Did you have a clear idea of what you wanted to do?
Nope, I had no idea on what I wanted to do.
Why did you decide to work here?
I saw the job advert and my friend that works within the council told me about this role.
What did you know about the council before you joined and what have you learnt about it so far?
I didn’t know much but I knew that they owned local areas and the buildings and landscapes. I now know more about the property area that I work within and what they deal with.
What apprenticeship are you undertaking, and do you have future plans?
I am doing Level 3 Business Admin and I do not currently have any future plans.
What do you enjoy about working here?
I enjoy getting to learn something new mostly everyday and working with the technical support team as they help me so much.
Apart from your apprenticeship, have you had other opportunities to learn and develop, job-shadow or to be involved in different projects?
I have done a few training sessions about fraud awareness, planning, economic growth and so on and I am sure I will do more in the future and also get the chance to shadow and be involved in different projects.
What advice would you give to future applicants?
Don’t worry about getting something wrong because that’s how you learn and if you need assistance ask for it as it will help you develop. Everyone is so welcoming so go for it!
