Sophie - Private Sector Housing and Environmental Health intern 2026

I was able to attend the Warm Homes Plan Conference at the Barbican Centre in London where I gave valuable insight into the programme and the objectives. This was beneficial for our intern group project, and an excellent networking opportunity with professionals from across the country.
I have really enjoyed working on our intern group project of promoting the Landlord Retrofit Hub and domestic energy efficiency. I have gained valuable experience in project management by scheduling meetings, coordinating availability, and ensuring clear and effective communication. I designed online surveys and sign-up forms that we used at our five market stalls to promote the grants and schemes available for improving the energy efficiency.
The internship has been the highlight of my summer, getting to know and work with new people means that every day has something different to offer. The skills that I have developed, including communication, teamwork, organisation, and project management, are highly transferrable to any area of work and will continue to benefit me throughout my future career.
Overall, I would highly recommend applying for this internship! Everyone I have worked with has been incredibly welcoming, supportive, and has made sure to give me an amazing experience, I wish there was still another 12 weeks left!
I am very grateful to everyone that I worked with that has made this such and enjoyable and valuable opportunity.
